awwww what a weekend!
sooo friday i was completely depressed cause i didnt have any ecua homies...:[[[[[[[
at the time my only options were...to spend the rest of my days trying to befriend Aninados[the vast majority] or befriend other US students which compose 30% of the uni's population...but that seems not to be much of a cultural exchange when i have plenty of US homies in the US...hmmm
Soo my host mom came to the rescue! and she gave me the number of one of the most awesomest dudes...SIMON!!! yay..so after dinner i went to this Chill ass place called ocho y media in floreste and met Simon...he is an awesome guy and so are his homies: Jefferson, Charo, Favio, La Negra[de colombia],Amanda[Gringuita], and others...
soooo we jammed out at this discoteca in Gringolandia...have no clue what it is called but overwhelmingly the majority of the ppl in there were Afro-ecuadorian and Man.....The Music was legit..it wasnt like the other dicotecas which play...idk..SALSA, MERENGUE, HOUSE, REGGEATON, ROCK EN ESPANOL...they were jammin to some vallenato, mapaloe, Punta, and Dancehall and Reggeaton....It was sweet!
Once again....I met more nigerians...igbos...i have no clue or idea what they are doing in this country...what is the foreign relations btwn Nigeria and Ecua look like?? i will have to do some research on that...hmmm welll
This Saturday was AMAZING!!! so the afro-ecuadorian organization that I am starting to work/want to work with has their fourth annual xmas celebration...in JANUARY... :] the precceddings were supposed to go to a community in la valle de hota se llam mascarilla but because of the tragic earthquake in Hait...they will be donated to our haitian brothers ans sisters....but it was all well...it was suppose to start at 10..and Sonia and Gabriella the head of the organization told me to be there are 945 am...yeah Hora ecuatoriana...the event didnt start till noon! lol wasnt surprised at all..just like naija ppl...loved it!!..lol well there were plenty and plenty of ppl that showed up! Both Afro and Non-Afro and all were so Carinoso and treated me like family..lol especially this one guy named Edwin..he is in the salsa grupo and he is AMAZING and soooo sweet. man i love how actively they have the kid participating in the events...they are so united as an organization but so so so inclusive! they made shout outs to NIGERIA, DOMINCAN REPUBLIC AND US...:] God, I am so excited for what is in story with the organization!! and man they can dance...the event was held outside of the con manos de ebano bulding so it was VERYYYYYY LOUD!! all the live music!! BOMBA, FESTEJO, SALSA, MARIMBA, MERENGUE and REGGAETON! FULL BUENAZO!! man when i get a change i will upload the pictures to FB so holla...alright well...imma bout to go out right now..so HOLLA!.
